Jackson Asks If Owners Colluding vs. Vick
The Rev. Jesse Jackson told the New York Times he wonders if the NFL's franchise owners are colluding to keep quarterback Michael Vick out of the league.
"I want to make it an issue," the civil rights leader told the newspaper. "I want teams to explain why they have a quarterback who has less skills but is playing or at least is on the taxi squad, and a guy with more skills can't get into training camp."
No team has signed Vick since the quarterback was conditionally reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Under the terms of his reinstatement, Vick is eligible to sign with a team and participate in training camp. He can play in his team's final two preseason games, and Goodell is to rule by Week 6 of the season on Vick's eligibility to play in regular season games.
Vick missed the last two NFL seasons while serving his federal prison sentence for his role in a dogfighting operation.
"Democracy does not guarantee success," Jackson told the Times. "Democracy guarantees an opportunity. It's not fair to de facto try to lock him out of his right to compete. If he can't make the team, don't let him play. If he can, let him work."

M.Vick should be given opportunity to redeem ...God gives us that same opportunity so why wish death on the man or display hatred? _ mr.hv
a thug is amongst many definitions a killer, and no one is out of that league by simply deer hunting, hitting dogs, squirrels, etc.; euthanasia ...killing is killing so rethink how u view people and life mr.hv and enjoy football.

This is a response to NOWHINE...All of the NBA owners are white except one. I don't think black people are keeping whites out of the NBA and your comment was irrelevant to Michael Vick getting an opportunity in the NFL.

I don'e see Jesse complaining about there not being enough white players in the NBA.

Still the same Jesse... No one cares what comes out of his mouth but the mainstream media...

Who cares what Jesse Jackson thinks? He has not represented the voice of the black community in years! The media seems to be the only ones that care what this idiot has to say.

We're onto Jesse Jackson's game. He attempts to extort money "for his foundation" from those with big pockets claiming racial injustice - usually where none exists.
It must be nice having a job where people pay you to go away.
Maybe NFL teams have enough character not to hire an obvious public relations nightmare?
This makes one wonder who is perpetuating racial issues these "historic" days.

lets see...maybe its because he is a dog torturer and murderer...i dont know...maybe its because they are afraid of the PR backlash...maybe they are suspect he can still play...and its just not worth the risk...
jesse jackson is a freagin joke...he is a racist!!!

Vick has a right to prove he is a changed man
But he DESERVES NOTHING.
How many felons are welcomed back to their previous Jobs?
Few to none.
This man tortured dogs over and over and over...
Hanging, drowning, electrocuting
Not a momentary laps in judgment not a mistake. He laughed with his buddies, bet and did it again and again..
My advice take a year off, working, showing you mean business about redemption. Talking to kids in the most vulnerable community's about the horrors of dog fighting.
Walk the walk
Perhaps then he might gain some ground.
I wonder how many "free to good home" ads are answered in order to collect the "bait" animals to train fighting dogs?
Puppies… Stray dogs.. Tape their mouth shut… Rip em up… Bait

Oh god love ya Jesse, you're just so darn adorable! There have been teams that have expressed interest in signing him and others who have said the opposite, so sort of puts a whole in your collusion theory... The man will play in the NFL again this year, but Jesse must be bored out of his mind to wade into the Michael Vick drama.
