Vikes Limiting Favre's Throws
The Minnesota Vikings reportedly are closely monitoring the number of throws made by quarterback Brett Favre, who has said he has a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.
"You have to keep an eye on it," Vikings Coach Brad Childress said, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "... By his own admission, he probably threw 200 balls in the Jets' first day of practice [last year] and probably set himself back, with the fans and the crowd--trying to show off, a little bit."
Favre underwent offseason surgery for the partially torn biceps tendon that plagued him last season while he was with the New York Jets.
He said after coming out of retirement to sign with the Vikings last week, three weeks after declining to report to training camp with the club and telling Childress he planned to stay retired, that orthopedist James Andrews had told him that he also has a tear in his rotator cuff that didn't require surgery.
