Burress Sentencing Tuesday

Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress is scheduled to be back in court Tuesday to be sentenced.

Burress is expected to begin serving his prison term immediately thereafter.

He pleaded guilty last month to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the incident last November in which he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a New York nightclub.

Burress agreed to a two-year prison sentence under a plea deal. His attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said after Burress's guilty plea that he expected Burress to actually serve approximately 20 months in jail. Burress is to have two years of supervised release thereafter.

The NFL announced just after Burress's guilty plea that Burress had been suspended but would be reinstated, and would be eligible to sign with a team, once he completes his prison term.
