Jags Release Bouman

The Jacksonville Jaguars released quarterback Todd Bouman.

The move came on the heels of Saturday's trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for quarterback Luke McCown.

McCown is to back up starter David Garrard. The Jaguars opted to keep only two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster.

"You have to do what's best for your situation," Jaguars General Manager Gene Smith said at a news conference Sunday, according to the team's Web site. "We still feel [McCown is] a young, ascending player."
