Lombardi Trophy to be on Display in Canton
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced that it will have the Vince Lombardi Trophy on public display from next Tuesday until it's shipped to South Florida to be presented to the Super Bowl winner in February.
A new Super Bowl trophy is made each year but it traditionally hasn't been shown publicly until around Super Bowl time.
But that is to change beginning this season, and Tuesday's announcement indicated that more than 20 Hall of Famers will be on hand in Canton, Ohio, on Monday when the trophy arrives via armored vehicle.
"We are extremely pleased that the National Football League has decided to exhibit the actual Vince Lombardi Trophy in the Hall of Fame's new Lamar Hunt Super Bowl Gallery," Steve Perry, the president and executive director of the Hall of Fame, said in a written statement. "No doubt every football fan visiting the museum will look upon the dramatically displayed icon of success and optimistically speculate that it may soon be the property of their favorite team."
