Chargers worker dies
A member of the San Diego Chargers' game-day staff died early Tuesday after a fall from the press box at Qualcomm Stadium before Monday night's game between the Chargers and Denver Broncos.
Walt Daniels, 66, died after being taken to a nearby hospital, the Associated Press reported.
Daniels suffered an apparent head injury, the AP reported, after falling approximately 25 to 30 feet from a booth in the press box to the stadium's loge level. The accident occurred about three hours before the game and delayed the opening of the stadium's gates by about 40 minutes, according to the AP.
The Chargers issued a written statement that said: "The San Diego Chargers' family is greatly saddened by the loss of Walt Daniels. Walt loved the team and loved working in the press box on game days for more than 20 years. Our prayers are with his family and friends during this most difficult time."
