Dolphins' Allen done for season

Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Allen will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury, the team announced.

According to the Associated Press, Dolphins Coach Tony Sparano said Monday that Allen will undergo surgery to have the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee repaired.

Allen suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The loss of Allen will elevate Vontae Davis into the starting lineup at the cornerback spot opposite fellow rookie Sean Smith, according to the AP.

Unfortunate loss. Good guy. Vontae has the skills and will rise to the occasion. Make take a little while but he will be a great one. Dolphins almost good enough to beat great teams like Colts and NO but now quite there. Hard to address issue at safety immediately. But should move Ginn to kickoff and punt returns where he excels and see if Turner or Hartline can succeed as a lead wide receiver or not. Pretty good chance this season is busted but whether it is or not by the end of the season we want to know (1) if we have our future QB or not, (2) if Turner or Hartline is our WR or if we have to draft one first round or acquire one. If any further losses may want to see if Cleo Lemon can succeed as safety since we are getting killed now. Dolphins are a good team, better than record but are a strong WR, a stronger performance at safety, and probably a tight end away from being a real contender.
