Dungy Told Vick to Avoid Raiders
Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said Sunday night on NBC that he'd advised quarterback Michael Vick not to sign with the Oakland Raiders before the season.
"I advised Michael Vick not to go there," Dungy, now an NFL analyst for the network, said, according to a transcript provided by NBC. "I said, 'Mike, you might be able to start there but that is not a good place for you.' "
Dungy served as an adviser to Vick before Vick signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Of the Raiders, Dungy said, according to NBC's transcript: "It starts with the organization and [owner] Al Davis needs to cede this over to someone else. Every coach that has been there has felt that they have been hamstrung a little bit" by ownership.
