Pats release Galloway

UPDATED (1:09 p.m.)...

The New England Patriots released wide receiver Joey Galloway on Tuesday, the team announced.

Galloway had struggled in his first season with the Patriots, with only seven catches for 67 yards and no touchdowns in the team's six games.

He has 689 catches for 10,777 yards and 77 touchdowns in 15 NFL seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Patriots.

Galloway signed with the Patriots after spending the previous five seasons with the Buccaneers.

The Patriots also released tight end Michael Matthews.
