Bryant to enter NFL draft

Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant told ESPN that he will enter the NFL draft next spring.

"I feel this is the best decision for me," Bryant said, according to the network. "It's what God wants me to do. I'm going to start my training Tuesday in Tampa."

The NCAA announced Thursday that Bryant's final appeal to be reinstated this season had been denied. He is to remain suspended for the rest of this season and is not to regain his eligibility to play until September 2010. Bryant was ruled ineligible by the school for lying to an NCAA investigator about a meeting with Deion Sanders, the former NFL standout who now works for the league-owned NFL Network.

Bryant, a junior, is regarded by many NFL talent evaluators as a likely first-round pick in the spring.

"This year didn't go the way I wanted it to," Bryant told ESPN. "It was so hard. And to be honest I had my head down at times. But the NCAA has made their decision. And I respect that. And now I've made mine."

He also told the network: "When I talk to the NFL, I'm going to be truthful with them about what happened. It will be what I'm supposed to tell them, which is the truth.... I love the game. I have a passion for the game. Football is what I do. And any NFL team that I play for is going to get great effort."
