Cable discusses allegations with Davis

According to the Associated Press, Oakland Raiders Coach Tom Cable said he has spoken in recent days to Raiders owner Al Davis about the latest set of allegations against Cable.

Cable was accused by two women, a former wife and an ex-girlfriend, of hitting them in the past. The allegations were made in interviews with ESPN that aired Sunday.

Cable said Wednesday that his job status was not discussed in his conversation with Davis, the AP reported.

"What we talked about is between us and we'll keep it that way," Cable said, according to the AP.

The Raiders announced Monday that they and the NFL would undertake a "serious evaluation" of the allegations against Cable.

Cable has denied most of the accusations in a written statement but has acknowledged once striking his former wife with an open hand. According to the AP, he stood by that statement Wednesday and declined to answer questions on the subject.

Cable indicated he plans to coach the Raiders the remainder of the season, according to the AP.

Although Goodell seems to have unlimited power, if the allegation was known to the NFL previously, esp NFL Security, this should be the end of it unless Cable lied to them. I mean, come on, 20 years? People make mistakes, they go on with their lives, that is why we have such things as statutes of limitations. Let the politically correct squeal, then let's move on. A man should not be deprived of his livelihood because of what happened 20 years ago. Now, maybe he should be fired because of the Raiders' performance, that is quite another matter.
