Colts' Sanders done for season?

The Indianapolis Colts will be without Bob Sanders, their talented but injury-prone safety, for a significant amount and time and perhaps for the remainder of the season.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts Coach Jim Caldwell said that Sanders will have to undergo surgery for an injury to his left elbow and could be sidelined for at least a month.

ESPN reported that the former NFL defensive player of the year will be out for the rest of the season because of a torn biceps tendon.

Sanders was hurt in last Sunday's triumph over the San Francisco 49ers and sought a second opinion from orthopedist James Andrews. Sanders missed the first five games of the season while recovering from offseason knee surgery.

Colts cornerback Kelvin Hayden also is to miss as much as four weeks because of a knee injury, according to the Star.

The injuries come after the unbeaten Colts lost cornerback Marlin Jackson for the remainder of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee suffered during Wednesday's practice.

Also, wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez underwent arthroscopic knee surgery, further delaying his return. He has not played since the opening game of the season.
