Chiefs to retire Thomas's number
The Kansas City Chiefs will retire the number of late linebacker Derrick Thomas this weekend.
Thomas's No. 58 is to be retired during a halftime ceremony Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. The Pro Football Hall of Fame also is scheduled to make a presentation to Thomas's family, and the Chiefs encouraged fans to wear Thomas jerseys to the game.
He was enshrined into the Hall of Fame in August and becomes the 10th Chiefs player to have his number retired.
Thomas was selected to nine Pro Bowls and set a franchise record with 126-1/2 sacks. He died in February 2000 of injuries suffered in an auto accident.
