Mora 'very stunned' by firing

Jim Mora said Monday he was "very stunned" by the Seattle Seahawks' decision to fire him Friday as their coach.

"I was very stunned to say the least, and I indicated so," Mora said during a radio interview on Seattle station KJR, according to an account by the Associated Press. "I've never seen this happen like this before.... I was very stunned. I don't know that it's even hit me yet."

Mora had a record of 5-11 in his lone season as the club's coach.

The Seahawks announced the hiring of Pete Carroll as their coach Monday.

"What makes it tougher for me is not being able to complete the task... knowing that I would complete it," Mora said, according to the AP account of his radio interview. "I have never failed in my life."
