Reed says he'll consider retirement
INDIANAPOLIS--Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed said after his team's season-ending playoff loss here Saturday night that he will contemplate retirement in the offseason.
Reed said "it's 50-50" whether he will play again next season. He said he's weary of fighting injuries to continue playing and "it hurts just thinking about it."
He said he had the thought on the sideline during the Ravens' 20-3 defeat to the Indianapolis Colts that it might have been his final NFL game.
"Honestly, I did," Reed said. "It kind of hit me on the sidelines.... I don't know how much I'm going to have going forward."
Reed said he will consult with doctors before making any decisions about his NFL future.
