Clemson's Ford is fastest receiver

Clemson wide receiver Jacoby Ford was timed officially at 4.28 seconds in the 40-yard dash Sunday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.

According to the NFL's Web site, Ford's time matched the second-fastest ever recorded at the combine, behind only the 4.24 seconds of running back Chris Johnson, now with the Tennessee Titans, in 2008.

Ford's time tied the 4.28 seconds run by Jerome Mathis in 2005 as the fastest for a wide receiver at the combine, according to the league's Web site.

Cal's Jahvid Best was the fastest of the running backs to run Sunday at 4.35 seconds, followed by Clemson's C.J. Spiller at 4.37 seconds.

Florida's Tim Tebow was timed at 4.72 seconds in his 40, the fourth-fastest time among the quarterbacks to run Sunday. Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour was second among quarterbacks at 4.66 seconds, and Texas's Colt McCoy was fifth at 4.79 seconds.
