Chicago (+3) at Carolina

Matt Bonesteel: Kyle Orton sure had a lot of Ravens-era Trent Dilfer in him the other night.
David Larimer: this one is tough.
David Larimer: i'll go with the panthers, only cuz they're at home and they're my nfc sleeper pick
bielerd: another one I went back-and-forth on. I'll take the Panthers and the superior QB, at home.
bielerd: even tho the panthers haven't been great at home recently
Matt Bonesteel: Gimme the Bears, at least for one more week until Orton gets hurt and Grossman comes in for some fabulous football follies.
bielerd: alright, we're displaying much less unanimity already than last week

Game preview

Indianapolis (-2) at Minnesota

David Larimer: The Colts are beat up. Rock me, Purple Jesus
Matt Bonesteel: The Vikings have the talent to do exactly what the Bears did on Sunday.
bielerd: I like the vikes! I see this as one of Peterson's occasional good-god-he's-incredible games, and Jared Allen will probably do a litle more than the nothing he did in week 1
Matt Bonesteel: They also have an equally mediocre quarterback.
Matt Bonesteel: Nevertheless, it's the Vikings for me.

Game preview

San Diego (-1.5) at Denver

Matt Bonesteel: I should charge $5.95 a minute for this one, because it's MY FIVE-STAR, SHOE-IN GIANT LOCK OF THE WEEK!!!!!!!
bielerd: the news of tomlinson's toe problems sway me toward the broncos.
bielerd: wow, my comment looks understated
David Larimer: This looks like stop No. 1 in the Philip Rivers Comeuppance Tour. Broncos.
bielerd: okay, I'l pony up the $5.95. who do ya actually like in this one, Matt?
David Larimer: I too am intrigued by the size of your lock.
Matt Bonesteel: Merriman's gone. Tomlinson is hobbled. Cromartie is hobbled. Marcus McNeill, the left tackle is hobbled. The Chargers did everything but urinate at midfield against the Broncos last season, so Denver will be agitated. Broncos.
Matt Bonesteel: Also, Chargers beat the broncos by a combined 64-6 or something like that last year. More rageahol for the Broncos.
bielerd: also, Brandon Marshall returns for Denver to team up with rookie mind-blowing sensation Eddie Royal to form a suddenly imposing WR tandem
bielerd: btw, between Royal and everyone raving about Josh Morgan in Niners camp, how bad is Hokies QB Sean Glennon?

Game preview

Philadelphia (+7) at Dallas

Matt Bonesteel: Seven points in a rivalry game on Monday night between two teams that looked equally good last week?
bielerd: weird line, it's like Vegas knows something we don't and is daring us to take the Iggles.
bielerd: I'm weirded out enough to take the cowboys
David Larimer: didn't t.o. and mcnabb used to play together?
David Larimer: bet they'll be happy to see each other. i'm sure t.o. will be his usual gracious self. oh yeah, i take the eagles.
Matt Bonesteel: Consider that dare accepted. A seemingly worse eagles team won in Irving last year. I think they'll either do that or keep it within a touchdown.
bielerd: my memories are vague about mcnabb and t.o., if only someone would remind me. didn't Mcnabb do pushups on T.O.'s veranda or something?

well, you made your lock this week Matt, but only because Ed Hochuli got the Broncos in the NFL's "Secret Santa" gift draw. it was obvious Cutler fumbled at game speed after the Chargers had come all the way back to reach Covertown. and then that! and then the Broncos didn't even have the decency to kick the extra point and let the Chargers cover in overtime. no, they had to go for 2 and get it. god i hate the fargin Broncos.
