The Solution: Play Well, Win

Hey, Tony Romo can date whomever he wants. I've never been one to say that you have to check all your rights to a personal life at the door just because you have achieved some level of notoriety in your profession.

But there are repercussions for all that you do. You have to realize that and live with it. If you're going to go to Mexico on a vacation with your celebrity girlfriend before a playoff game, you're bringing additional scrutiny upon yourself. You'd better know that people are going to find out, and you'd better know that if you don't play well in that playoff game and win, there's going to be criticism. It goes with the job. It goes with the position. It goes with the handsome contract.

So if that happens, don't complain about it later.

What it comes down to is this: The problem for Tony Romo during last season's playoffs wasn't that he went on vacation with Jessica Simpson before the Cowboys' playoff game against the Giants. The problem was that the Cowboys lost to the Giants. No matter what he'd done before the game, he would have been criticized. He simply gave people something else for which to criticize him.

Now Romo's famous girlfriend has raised the stakes for him Monday night. So what's the answer for Romo? Play well and win. Then no one can say anything.
