Bookmakers Dilemma

The teams only have to release injury reports by the weekend, which is unfortunate for us since we put up the opening numbers on Monday morning. So we have the same information as everyone, but as a bookmaker I don't have much of a choice. That's how the system works.
So, unless he's a key player, like a Tony Romo who could move a line say 4-6 points, I'll put the number up. That's not to say that other players matter less - a key offense lineman going down can change the line too. The sharp gamers -- the sophisticated guys -- get the number before us. Thank god for the 11/10!
Obviously I'd love to have the information way in advance but I doubt the NFL teams are about to accommodate a bunch of bookmakers in Las Vegas. I have to find it on my own. There are times when I wish I knew the status of a key player before Friday, sometimes I don't even know until game time. But since no one feels the need to accommodate us in any way, we just have to continue doing the best we can with what we got.
