It's Over... This Season

The Missus is a Packers fan, so I watched the Colts on Sunday. They missed Addai on offense and Bob Sanders on defense, sure. But Peyton Manning is what makes them go and to me, Manning still doesn't look right.

He was just a little off on throws he normally nails, like the seam stuff down the middle; he missed Clark and Harrison on two shots, and he was late on the interception that Aaron Rouse took back for the last touchdown. Indy's offense is so timing-based, I can't help but think the lack of work with the receivers during camp is going to haunt them all year.

But Manning is too good to be down for long.

I don't know if Harrison is done as an elite receiver; maybe they should invest a first-day pick next year on a wideout. But Wayne and Clark and Gonzalez are still awfully good, and Addai is a solid back. The O-line is still strong, and it seems the defense is totally different when Sanders is on the field. But it's still all about the quarterback. I think Indy takes a year off, Manning heals up, and the Colts are back among the elite in '09... just like the Patriots.
