Giants Badly Need a Win

The New York Giants have the most at stake this weekend in their matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The Giants have stumbled of late, and they need to regain their championship swagger if they are to win their second straight Super Bowl.

The Giants clearly missed running back Brandon Jacobs last week in their 20-8 loss to Dallas, but the 1,000-yard rusher practiced all week and appears set to play. That's great news for Giants fans because the weather is expected to be miserable on Sunday. A mix of rain and possible snow will make throwing difficult, and that means the Giants will lean on Jacobs to control the ball.

The Giants' recent slump is in stark contrast to last season, when they were picking up steam right about this time. They used their elevated play to run through the postseason and upset then-undefeated New England in the Super Bowl. A win on Sunday not only would solidify home-field advantage for the Giants but inject a much-needed dose of confidence to a team that has been sorely lacking in that department over the past two games.
