So Long, Saints

There is some very simple math at work here. The Redskins are ahead of New Orleans in the wild-card hunt and the Packers are closer to the top of their division. The Saints are no-man's land, and a look at the rest of their schedule reveals little cause for hope, as they still have to play the Falcons, Bears and Panthers. And as for their other game, which might appear to be a layup, book it: New Orleans will hand Detroit its only win of the season. Think about it: As bad as they have looked most of the season, the Lions are still unlikely to become the first team to ever go 0-16. And what better team to be the 1 in Detroit's 1-15 season than a similarly star-crossed franchise in New Orleans?
