Outlook Not So Good

History aside, the early precincts do not look good. Obviously there was a lot of internal stuff brewing that's coming out, and Boldin certainly doesn't look like he wants to return...I also am not encouraged that Warner's capable of a second drink from the fountain of youth. That offensive line is better, but it still isn't dominant. One kill shot on the blind side and they're back to 5-11 land.

I think Whisenhunt is the real deal, but I wonder about his judgment if he had to fire two assistants after they made the Super Bowl. And if he was made to fire them, I wonder how much control he really has. Either way, it's bad. And that division is due for a rebound next season; the 49ers showed some signs of life under Singletary, and I suspect Jim Mora can turn things around in Seattle faster than most might believe.

I enjoyed the Cards playoff run up to the Super Bowl - surprisingly, I even pulled for them - but the truth is that they likely won't be in the playoffs next year. Too many obstacles and not enough winning tradition.
