Don't Board Viking Ship

Don't do it Brett. You're a Packer, a beloved Hall of Fame Packer. It was strange enough to watch you wear a different shade of green last season. It worked out, sort of, if you like a non-playoff 9-7 standing with 22 TD, 22 INT, 30 sacks and a QB rating no higher than 61.4 in the final five games of the season. So 2008 came and went with drama and headlines reading like a script from your favorite soap opera. That was supposed to be all she wrote.

Naturally, it wasn't, and now the annual will-he-or-won't-he-play chatter is back. And the team involved is the Minnesota Vikings. Wow. Brett, for the sake of your legendary status in Green Bay, please don't do it. Don't don the purple jersey; don't dare turn the Lambeau Leap into the Metrodome Mount.

I won't lie, Brett Favre in Minnesota would provide tremendous storylines for 2009. I would watch and I won't deny that. But, what it would mean after the fact is what I fear most. Given the tumultuous past year and a half after Green Bay, Favre would be putting his reputation on the line. He would become what Hulk Hogan became after he turned to Hollywood Hogan. He would become the enemy, the traitor and he would run the risk of alienating the millions of Packers fans he spent his entire career representing. And what would that say about him -- that he's really just all about Brett and has no regard for how his decisions play out in Green Bay? Would it really be settling a score against a select few in Packers management? Is it really just an ego thing? Let's not find out.

You can't do it Brett, you can't turn to the dark side. The New York Jets was one thing. It was a mulligan. All will be forgiven in time. But for the sake of what you stand for in Green Bay, stay on the sidelines. The time has come to set sail and enjoy the sunset on the calm waters of retirement. Do not return on the Viking ship.

As a loyal Viking fan, it would be a great pleasure to see Favre in Viking purple and gold. Sure hes old, worn out and throws interceptions like parade candy, but, if all he did was win two games all season-against the Packers mind you, it would be well worth it.

12-0. That's 12 NFL Championships over the history of the franchise for Green Bay, 0 for Minnesota. If I was in the twilight years of a Hall of Fame career after having been the icon of Titletown USA, there is no way I would attach my name to such a bunch of pathetic losers.

Go, Pack, Go!
