This offseason the Eagles were one of the most aggressive teams in the league. They upgraded their offensive line, receiving core, and brought in the future replacement for running back Brian Westbrook. If not for defensive coordinator Jim Johnson's death, I'd consider the Eagles the full-fledged favorite for the Super Bowl. Their offense should be among the league's elite in 2009 with a defense that should be good enough to keep the Eagles in every game.
If Philadelphia doesn't have the best roster in the league, then they are definitely close to whoever does. I'd be surprised if the Eagles don't go far this season. They made it to the NFC Championship game last year before adding two very good offensive linemen and two exciting rookies. Their offensive line figures to be one of the biggest in the league and the combination of Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson at wide receiver figures to be an elite duo in just a few years.
Joe Banner is correct in his assessment of his team. Now it's just time for them to take the next step and win the Super Bowl.
