He fooled us again. Like your jerk big brother who, instead of just picking you up from soccer practice in his '86 Camaro, has to tap the gas every time your hand gets near the door handle.

Surprise! Brett Favre is back, having managed to skip training camp. I'd offer that this probably wasn't the plan all along, but that would be naive. When it comes to retirement, this dude is capable of any level of deceit.

And yet, it's a good thing for the NFL, it's a good thing for fans and media who like to talk about the NFL, and it's certainly good for the Vikings. I mean, Tarvaris Jackson? Sage Rosenfels? Please.

So yes, it's all a farce -- a Favrce, even -- but this is the NFL, not the United Nations. Someday our jerk big brother will grow up and move to Canton, but until then, try to enjoy his antics for what they are, and with and knowledge that they are slowly burying a truly golden legacy.
