Frustration in Florida

The Packers became a trendy Super Bowl pick because they added a former head coach, Dom Capers, to revamp the defense and QB Aaron Rodgers looked almost perfect in the preseason. After two weeks, the offense has stalled because the pass protection has collapsed. Rodgers won't survive another 16 game season if he continues to take such a beating. It doesn't look too good on the other side of the ball either; the defense just allowed 31 points to the Bengals' previously dormant offense.

The Patriots seemed certain to return to AFC dominance with QB Tom Brady. Besides a career 4th quarter against the Bills from TE Ben Watson, their offense has barely had a pulse. It's hardly time to panic, but it's a surprise to see the Patriots actually regress as they switch from QB Matt Cassel back to Brady.

The Titans entered the 2008 playoffs with home field advantage throughout. Now they enter week 3 with a key divisional matchup against the Colts and an 0-2 record. It was shocking to see their outstanding pass defense fall apart against the Texans last Sunday as QB Matt Schaub had a career best 4 TD game. In 2008, opposing QBs only had a 69.2 QB rating against them, and they only allowed 12 TD passes for the entire season.

Few expected the Dolphins to repeat from their surprising 11-5 season, but an 0-2 start is probably not what Bill Parcells had in mind. A game in two weeks against the surprisingly dominant NY Jets is looming large.

The Buccaneers were one win away from the 2008 playoffs, but enough went wrong last season that it convinced them that they needed a new direction. They fired Jon Gruden, who left for the announcers' box, and longtime defensive coordinator Monte Kiffen went back to college (Tennessee) to assist his son, and new Vols head coach, Lane Kiffen. So far the results have been discouraging. Since the start of the Tony Dungy era, this team has been known for their defense. But after an 0-2 start in 2009, they've allowed 67 points, which is 2nd worst in the NFL, behind only the lowly Lions.
