Might Be Too Late


At this point I think it's kind of hard to say Tom Cable should be punished for this. He's being accused of past incidents, so it's not like getting arrested this week for such an incident.

While he may be a scumbag for hitting women, it just seems a little difficult for the league to dole out punishment for transgressions dating that far back. The one with his wife, while awful was in the late 80s. I just don't see how one could justify a league punishment for that now. The other incident would at the very least need an additional investigation.

Obviously the Lutz incident involves a lot of he said-she said, so the league could certainly look into it. If this happened during the current season it would be a lot easier to justify some kind of league punishment, whether Cable was charged or not. After all, the league has no problem punishing people cleared of any wrong-doing. However, given that it was almost a year ago, I'm not so sure.
