NO! No retirement yet. He has been a fantastic quarterback all season long. It would be cruel for him to leave or have to leave considering the situation with that last interception.

Make next year a transition year for the Vikings starting with Favre doing the quarterbacking then slowly allow his replacement to move into position. Farve could then finish out his season as teacher/mentor or just quietly retire mid-season .. his call.

As an aside, wasn't it Troy Aikman who noted in an earlier Vikings game that Farve is about the only quarterback with the ability to successfully throw the ball back across the field to his receiver without risking interception? Was anyone else totally disgusted as Aikman, in Sunday's game, severely criticized Farve following that disastrous interception, telling us how idiotic it is for any quarterback to throw back across the field like that and risk interception?

Yes! I think Favre should retire gradually over the next two seasons. He could hold a tearful news conference each Monday during the season and announce his retirement, then sign with a new team on Tuesday and play one game for that team before retiring again the following Monday. This system has lots of advantages- 29 more chances for Brett to cry on TV, Favre jerseys on sale in every team color, every GM becomes a genius for at least one week of the season, NFL Sunday Ticket sales go through the roof, and Brett locks down the career interception record for all time.

With the plethora of talent in Minnesota, I think Favre should make another run at it. What he SHOULD do is announce his intentions ASAP instead of his typical yo-yo offseason.

But he loves the spotlight, so I'm sure we'll be seeing it again.

He should play one more season. He is playing better than 98% of the starting NFL quarterbacks. Only Brees and P. Manning are as good (or a tad better). He should not go out with that final interception as his last throw. Come on Brett. One more year!
