Rookie ruckus

The New York Jets are landing this weekend, not taking off.

The question, actually, was whether a rookie head coach or a rookie quarterback can go far in the playoffs. The answer is "yes." See George Seifert. See Ben Roethlisberger.

Oh, wait, the question was specifically about the New York Jets, featuring that specific head coach and that specific rookie quarterback? I'd like to change my answer to "no."

Okay the answer is really "no" all around. It's never been done. If you have a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback, you started the year building from too far back to go all the way. However, if you even get this far, it's a mighty good sign for the future.
