Ice, ice baby

The second round of what the National Weather Service has been calling a "catastrophic storm" is getting ready to hit. It's also being referred to as "Iceageddon" or "The Icepocalypse." Yuck. I love living in Indiana three seasons of the year, but by February, I want to leave. At least there's the Super Bowl to look forward to - one of my favorite days of the year. There's the friends, the food, the beer, the ads, and - of course - the football.

Like the winter weather in Indiana, Brett Favre got a little tiresome, so I couldn't be happier that Aaron Rodgers has achieved such success after the Packers organization made the decision to stick with him as their quarterback. He's so easy to like.

On the other hand, I find it hard to respect Ben Roethlisberger. Sure, he can win games, but he's also been such a mess the last couple of years. Besides, he's already won a couple of rings. I'd like to see Rodgers get his first, but the Pack will have to get by Troy Polamalu and company, and the Steel Curtain will be a major obstacle.

With two strong teams, it's too close to call, but Sunday I'll be cheering right along with those cheese-wearing Packers fans. Regardless of the outcome, I'll forget about the ice and snow for a while as I watch what is destined - as the point spread indicates - to be a battle, much like the one Hoosiers are facing against Iceageddon. Go Pack!
