Sunday Line Chatter, Week 4: Games We Want to Watch
Green Bay (+1) at Tampa Bay
Matt Bonesteel: Pack's secondary is so banged up, Griese might throw the ball a bazillion times again.
bielerd: Give me the points, well, POINT and the better team. Packers, thanks
David Larimer: I like the Bucs. I think these teams are pretty even right now, so I'll go with the home team
Matt Bonesteel: Of course, I want Gruden to use a different wacky offensive scheme every week. This week: the flexbone!
Matt Bonesteel: But I'll take the Packers. Tampa Bay is just kind of meh in pretty much all departments.
bielerd: I want him to trot out the wishspread
Matt Bonesteel: I like the spreadbone
bielerd: the option 'n shoot?
bielerd: Ryan Grant is going to have a big game at some point, right?
David Larimer: What if Ryan Grant is Domanick Davis?
Matt Bonesteel: he's gonna be that one highly drafted fantasy bust. there's always one. i should know. i usually take them.
bielerd: I thought Randy Moss was that one highly drafted bust
Matt Bonesteel: we're talking RBs here. grant and brandon jackson (2007 overhyped draft bust that I took way too early and then cut in like week 3) are on the same team. has anyone seen them in the same room together?
bielerd: oooh, the Packers should really stick it to Favre by trading for Moss right now!
bielerd: anyway, let's move on
Philadelphia (-3) at Chicago
David Larimer: Let the Eagles soar....
Matt Bonesteel: they don't know what to do with this line, b/c of westbrook's injury.
David Larimer: If Philly's defense is anything like last week, it won't matter. That was a ridiculous performance.
bielerd: one thing I am pretty confident about: the Bears won't have a double-digit lead to choke away this time
Matt Bonesteel: they beat up roethlisberger like he made untoward moves toward their little sisters.
David Larimer: Willie Parker, too.
Matt Bonesteel: well, parker kind of hurt himself by stepping on the giant, pillowy gut of one of his linemen.
David Larimer: No, I don't mean that Roethlisberger made untoward moves toward Willie Parker
bielerd: Yeah, but that was for the Championship of the Universe -- aka, I-76. with the stakes decidedly lower this week, I'll take the home dog in Chicago
bielerd: Still debating this one, Dave?
Matt Bonesteel: mcnabb will play well in his homecoming to chitown.
Matt Bonesteel: so i'll take the eagles, just to make my dad happy (hi dad!)
bielerd: oh, sorry, dave, you had the Eagles making John Ashcroft happy
Baltimore (+5 1/2) at Pittsburgh
Matt Bonesteel: mendenhall! mendenhall! mendenhall! it's just like that seinfeld episode.
David Larimer: It's only 5 1/2? It was 7 1/2 in yesterday's paper
Matt Bonesteel: covers.com has it as 5.5.
bielerd: hey, that's why they call it the 'latest line.' I agree, the Ravens looked a lot more tempting getting a touchdown-plus
David Larimer: oh, ok. that's just a lot of movement in one day.
Matt Bonesteel: nevertheless, I still like the Ravens. they'll try to step on ben's face with a hobnail boot. hopefully we'll get another thrilling glimpse of leftwich.
David Larimer: If this was 7.5 like yesterday, I'd definitely take the Ravens. Now it's just another one of several lines I'm struggling with.
Matt Bonesteel: like, "I do." HAHAHAHAHAH
David Larimer: i have been zinged!
bielerd: I would LOCK the under if we had that option here. We don't, so I'll do the next-best thing: take the Ravens too keep it nice and low-scoring and close.
Matt Bonesteel: ray lewis is gonna throw out his back if he keeps doing that silly young-man dance, tho.
bielerd: I think the line also moved from 7.5 to 5.5 on "number of minutes it will take Matt to get embarrassingly drunk at Dave's reception"
Matt Bonesteel: well, i'm drunk now, so that should tell you something.
David Larimer: Ok, just to be different, I'll take the Steelers
