Buffalo at Arizona, Week 5

The giddiness of a 2-0 start is a distant memory for the Cardinals. A 10-day road trip to the East Coast resulted in losses to Redskins and the Jets, and now the team is back home but facing the 4-0 Bills, with the 3-1 Cowboys up next. "It hasn't been a good two weeks," cornerback Eric Green said. "We came out here, we got two losses. We got to go home and we got to get our heads together." Yeah, those heads might have gotten a bit dizzy whipping around again and again to see Brett Favre touchdown passes whiz by.
At least the Cards can rest easier knowing that teammate Anquan Boldin is on the mend from a vicious hit he took against the Jets. Boldin sustained a fractured sinus, which sounds horrible, except compared to what looked like might have happened as he was carted off the field. It is uncertain when he will suit up again, but it almost certainly won't be this week. Arizona could also use Adrian Wilson back as soon as possible. The star safety was out last week with a hamstring strain -- and it obviously showed in the team's pass defense -- and he may not be able to go against Buffalo.
That would be music to the ears of Trent Edwards, who has been very solid at quarterback for the Bills in just his second year in the NFL. He had his worst game of the season last week against the Rams, and it was still good for a 60.0 completion percentage, 197 yards, a touchdown and an interception. For the season, Edwards is sporting a 93.5 passer rating, which, coincidentally, is Arizona counterpart Kurt Warner's career rating. Warner is at 100.8 so far this year and is on pace for franchise highs with 4,888 yards passing and 32 touchdowns, but he accounted for a ridiculous six turnovers at New York and remains a fumbling machine, albeit a very accurate fumbling machine. Coach Ken Whisenhunt gave Warner a vote of confidence this week, but no one out in the desert (which is such an apt locale for the annually lousy Cards) is forgetting that Matt Leinart waits in the wings.
