Sunday Line Chatter, Week 13: Games We'll Skip in Favor of Eating Leftovers
Miami (-7 1/2) at St. Louis
Matt Bonesteel: I have no theme music, unlike my compatriots. What i do have is A SHARP SHOVEL AND AN OUTSTANDING WILL.
Matt Bonesteel: So I'll lock the Dolphins. The Rams haven't covered in many a game, and won't start now.
larimerd2000: The Dolphins fell apart last week. The Rams will help them put things together, much like the helped the Bears find their defense last week. Dolphins
bielerd: The only question is, how lopsided will it be after the first half? In their past four games, the Rams have been outscored before halftime by 123-13. 123-13!
larimerd2000: A quick-n-tidy Dolphins sweep, then?
bielerd: Well, we're doing this chat early in the week, and it would be nice to know if Steven Jackson was going to play. He might or might not. But whatever, yes, I'll take the Dolphins
larimerd2000: Maybe if we wait long enough we'll find out
Kansas City (+3) at Oakland
larimerd2000: This just brings tears to my eye
larimerd2000: my one eye
larimerd2000: readers are blissfully unaware i'm a cyclops
bielerd: Before last week, you would say conclusively that the Chiefs were playing better than the Raiders
Matt Bonesteel: jamarcus russell was suprisingly competent last week.
bielerd: well, readers can see that Sunday Line photo collage, so they know something's messed up about your grill
larimerd2000: yeah, in airbrushing on a second eye they screwed up my whole face.
bielerd: but then, yes, last week happened. and Russell looked remarkable competent. and the one thing the Raiders should be able to do on offense with some competence, run the ball, plays prefectly to the Chiefs' biggest weakness
Matt Bonesteel: The chiefs can only seem to cover when they're underdogs of 9 1/2 or more points.
Matt Bonesteel: I can't bear to think about this game any more, so I'll go with the home team coming off a better game. Raiders.
bielerd: I think Oakland will just pound Fargas and McFadden all day. Raiders
larimerd2000: Tyler Thigpen's first appearance was against the Raiders. I've made up a story line in which he's hellbent to prove to them he's not that same scared small-town QB anymore. I call it, "Thiggy's Revenge." Chiefs.
Jacksonville (+3) at Houston
larimerd2000: Man, they get bleak at this point in the chat at this time of year
Matt Bonesteel: Jags are tied for the NFL's worst ATS record with the Rams (3-8).
Matt Bonesteel: They've only covered against the Lions in their last five games.
larimerd2000: I like Houston at home. Texans. That's enough from me on this game.
Matt Bonesteel: I can't believe this game is on Monday night. The Texans will run with the spotlight. Houston.
bielerd: I don't know which way to go here, but a quick review of my picks reveals that I have taken a whopping 13 of 15 favorites so far. That can't go well for me. So I better take advantage of my last chance to pick an underdog. Impenetrable logic! Jags
We'll be back at the usual Friday afternoon posting time next week. In the meantime, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
