In Wilbon's World

The Wilbon Index: Top NFL Teams

There are still five undefeated teams in the NFL and ranking them is a matter of preference. The only thing I'm prepared to argue is that the Vikings and Colts seem like the two best teams in the league right now. The Broncos' victory over the Patriots earned Denver a bump up over the idle Saints, who did nothing bad but still moved down a notch from last week. Four have tough games this week, meaning it's possible only Indianapolis could be undefeated after this weekend's games; the Colts are idle.

1) Vikings - Best combination of offense and defense in the league.

2) Colts

3) Giants - Soft early schedule prevents them from being atop the list, so Sunday's date with the Saints in New Orleans is a biggie.

4) Broncos - Back-to-back, first the Patriots and now the Chargers in San Diego. If they win Monday night they go to the top of this ranking.

5) Saints - Not everybody can remain undefeated after Week 6 and the showdown with the G-Men.

6) Bengals - Go figure...Cedric Benson leading the NFL in rushing? Ahead of Adrian Peterson?

7) Eagles - If only Donovan McNabb can stay healthy for the rest of the season.

8) Falcons - Slip-up at New England is the only blemish.

9) Bears - Tough stretch of games coming up, starting with Sunday in Atlanta.

10) Steelers - Okay, they're not dominating opponents but there's nothing easy about defending a championship.

Editors' note: Wilbon's top 10 plus three other highly-regarded teams are listed below in random order.
